As part of the BRCC Fine Arts Center’s Fall 2022 lineup of programming, an Elvis tribute artist was definitely a wild card! When creating this poster series, we knew this could be an opportunity to fully embrace the spirit of vintage kitsch inherent to the art form. With densely textured halftone, technicolor brights and intentionally misaligned layers, we paid homage to the pulpy, imperfect look of concert posters in the early years of rock and roll, as well as to Warhol’s iconoclastic depictions of The King. This series ended up being one of the year’s most successful promotions, packing the house with a sold out show.
